AgPal Terms of Use
AgPal is a web-based discovery tool developed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) to help farmers and others in the agriculture and agri-business sector find the federal, provincial, and territorial programs and services that specifically apply to them.
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you, as an AgPal user, and His Majesty the King in Right of Canada, as represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
By accessing, browsing, downloading or otherwise using AgPal and its information and content, you are indicating your acceptance, without limitation or qualification, to be bound by these Terms of Use.
Uses
Access and use of AgPal (including AgPal Chat) is provided solely to allow you to search for and obtain summary information on the programs and services available to you through AgPal's federal, provincial and territorial partners. You can decide if you want to go directly to the specific program/service webpage for more information. By way of example, you will not:
- Use AgPal and its information for your own personal commercial gain, such as on behalf of an advertiser, third-party, agent or your own personal commercial venture.
- Facilitate or encourage any violation of these Terms of Use.
- Undertake any activity that could disable, overburden, or impair the proper working of AgPal or use AgPal to further any activity that may be unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory.
Privacy Statement
AgPal Chat was designed with your privacy in mind. The AgPal website and AgPal Chat do not automatically collect your personal information, such as your name, phone number or e-mail address. The chat function is designed so that any personal information you do provide will be deleted upon detection and won’t be retained. This is done through a combination of automatic detection and redaction algorithms, in addition to manual review and redaction. This information is only collected if you supply it by sending us an e-mail, or if you enter it into AgPal Chat.
Any personal information you may provide in the form of a name, email address and comments via email will be used to respond to your feedback. Once the communication is complete, none of your contact information or details will be retained. Feedback about your experience on the website may be kept for future use. However, all personal information will be removed from the comments prior to being recorded.
Any personal information collected, is collected under the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Act for the purpose of providing you discovery tools on this website, or in the chat function.
This site uses cookies in order to facilitate your ability to place and review items in your favourites. The site is also subject to AAFC’s Terms and conditions.
Any personal information you provide through this site will be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act and described in the Standard Personal Information Bank, Public Communications PSU 914.
You have the right to request access to, and corrections to, your personal information. You also have the right to file a compliant with the office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada should you have concerns with the handling of your personal information. Official Languages
The Official Languages Act, the Official Languages (Communications with and Services to the Public) Regulations and Treasury Board policy requirements establish when AAFC uses both English and French to provide services to or communicate with members of the public. When there is no obligation to provide these in both official languages, content may be available in one official language only. Information provided by entities not subject to the Official Languages Act is in the language(s) provided.

Summary information on this site comes from many different federal, provincial and territorial departments and agencies, as well as external sources and other levels of government. AgPal Chat is a generative AI chatbot that enables conversational search for information accessible on AgPal. It uses GPT technology (a language prediction model) to predict the best response to questions that are asked to it. Although its responses are grounded by the information available on AgPal, its generative AI nature may lead to the possibility of inaccurate or unexpected responses. All information processed by AgPal Chat is sent through content filtering systems to detect and prevent the generation of potentially harmful content.
The non-Government of Canada sites to which this website links are not subject to the Privacy Act, Official Languages Act and may not be accessible to persons with disabilities. The information offered may be available only in the language(s) used by the sites. Your use and access to these non- Government of Canada websites is governed by the service provider's own terms of service and policies, such as privacy.
